Creating Blog Posts in WordPress

Lesson Overview:
Publishing blog posts in WordPress is simple, but creating posts that look professional and perform well requires some planning. In this lesson, you’ll learn the steps to write, format, and publish a post that’s both visually appealing and SEO-friendly.

Step 1: Access the Post Editor

  • From your WordPress dashboard, go to Posts → Add New.
  • This opens the Gutenberg editor (block editor) where you can add text, images, and other media.

Step 2: Write a Compelling Title

  • Your title should be clear, descriptive, and include a primary keyword.
  • Example: Instead of “Tips for Marketing,” use “10 Proven Marketing Tips to Grow Your Small Business.”

Step 3: Add and Format Content

  • Use paragraph and heading blocks to structure your post.
  • Break content into short, readable sections.
  • Use bullet points and numbered lists for clarity.

Step 4: Add Media (Images, Videos, etc.)

  • Use the Image block to insert visuals that support your content.
  • Add alt text for each image for SEO and accessibility.
  • You can also embed videos, social media posts, or audio.

Step 5: Optimize for SEO

  • Install an SEO plugin (like Yoast or Rank Math).
  • Add a meta description and focus keyword.
  • Use the plugin’s checklist to improve readability and keyword placement.

Step 6: Preview and Publish

  • Use the Preview button to see how your post will appear.
  • Once ready, click Publish — and your post is live!
